Celebrities and Their Watches – Leonardo DiCaprio

His full name is Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio, born November 11, 1974, American actor, producer and passionate advocate for a clean environment.

But which wristwatch is Mr. DiCaprio wearing? Let’s take a look!

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo began his career by appearing in television commercials in the late 1980s and in the early 1990s he played smaller roles, including the Parenthood series.

The career really took off with a major film role in the movie This Boy’s Life and the unforgettable What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, both from 1993.

The big international breakthrough came with the movie Titanic (1997), at the time the highest-grossing movie ever.

Other memorable movies worth mentioning are Catch Me If You Can (2002), Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (2004), Blood Diamond (2006), Inception (2010) and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013).

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Watches

Leonardo has been seen with several different wristwatches in his movies, but outside the limelight he seems to prefer Rolex, more specifically a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona.

Of other watch brands, TAG Heuer in particular dominates and it is not surprising, because in 2009 Leonardo DiCaprio signed a sponsorship agreement with TAG Heuer.

TAG Heuer is known for its commitment to the green cause and it has undoubtedly been a decisive factor for Leonardo who is also actively involved in the climate change movement.

The watch company has a long tradition of making endorsement deals with especially well-known actors and sports stars.

1. Rolex Cosmograph Daytona

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona is a self-winding chronograph that has been on the market in more than half a century and it was originally designed to meet the demands of professional racing drivers.

Diamonds are mined and sold to finance the war and during troublesome circumstances Vandy finds and buries an unusually big diamond before being captured by government troops.

In jail the Rhodesian gunrunner Archer played by Leonardo DiCaprio hears about the enormous pink diamond from Vandy and together they arrange for themselves to be freed from detention and set out to locate the diamond.

From the very beginning of the movie, Leonardo is clearly seen wearing the TAG Heuer Carrera Automatic in stainless steel and black dial.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) is based on a true story of Jordan Belfort played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

The movie revolves around Jordan’s meteoric career in stock broking beginning with an entry-level job for L.F. Rothschild, under Mark Hannas guidance, who quickly transforms Jordan into a money-making machine and who also teaches him that it’s all about making money for yourself and having a good time, regardless of good moral and aestethics.

Driven by sky rocketing success Jordan founds his own company and makes a fortune on sales of penny stocks.

The sales take place under illegal conditions though and Jordan eventually goes to jail for his financial crimes.

Leonardo wore a TAG Heuer Professional 1000 Series in the movie – a choice that makes sense both in terms of Leonardo DiCaprio’s partnership with TAG Heuer, but also the watch itself that radiates luxury and excellence.

This particular model was discontinued in 1992, but it is ocasionally seen on Amazon.
