Hello and welcome to my website.
My name is Claus, I’m Danish and I live on the island of Funen, Denmark with my lovely wife and twin boys.
I have a passion for many things. Wristwatches and clocks are just a couple of them.
I’m educated as a laboratory technician, but I found the job uninspiring and decided to quit and devote myself more to the music.
Music has always been a central part of my life, and over time I have taught myself to play several instruments, especially the guitar that I consider to be the instrument I master best.
I have also published music for many years, both own compositions and others.
Besides I’m the co-founder and owner of a successful app development company.
This company’s primary target group is children aged 0-5 years, but we have also developed apps for adults.
Before engaging in the development of apps, I owned a one-man company that imported wristwatches from all over the world and resold them in Denmark.
It is in this context that I have become familiar with many watch brands, both expensive and cheap.
Whatever I have done in my life, I have always made sure to give myself the opportunity to play and write music, and today I have my own professional audio studio where all my songs are recorded and mixed.
The Fascination
From 1970 to 1972 my dad worked as a welder at the Thule Air Base, Greenland.
Thule Air Base is the United States Air Force’s northernmost base while Greenland is part of the Danish Kingdom and during those days many Danish craftsmen applied for a job there.
The salary was good so this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for my parents to get the money to buy a house.
When my dad returned home to Denmark he brought an expensive stereo with him and as the total music-loving kid I was I will never forget how I was absolutely blown away by the power and quality of the sound.
I had never heard anything like it before!
My dad also brought a Seiko wristwatch and I remember how mystified I was when he explained to me that the watch was self-winding!
Strange images went through my mind while trying to grasp how that would be possible.
I was 6 years old at the time.
I think this was the moment when my fascination for watches initially started.
Around 1980 my best friend bought a digital wristwatch. It looked futuristic with its dark synthetic ruby 7-segment LED display and case and bracelet made of rolled gold.
It was rather battery-consuming, so you had to click a button to show the time and then the display would go blank after one second.
It literally looked like something from a James Bond movie and I thought it was the coolest thing.
There is Always Something New to Learn
I don’t consider myself being an expert when it comes to watches and clocks, I’m merely fascinated by these small ‘machines’ if you will, mechanical, electronic or both.
My intention with this place is to dig deeper into this exciting world and share my findings with you.
Perhaps you have something to share with me as well and I welcome you to do so by commenting on the posts here or you can send me an email.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
Claus
