7 Best Casio Pro Trek Watches in 2019

Any modern outdoor enthusiast would feel stark naked leaving home without his outdoor watch.

Whether we speak hiking, trekking, skiing, golfing, fishing, cycling, sailing, fitness, running, surfing, swimming or horse riding, the importance of a solid, high quality sports watch can hardly be overstated.

So what’s out there on the market for the discerning outdoor man today?

There are several brands that instantly come to mind.

Garmin, that continuously has gained terrain over the years as specialists in wearable (and non-wearable) GPS navigation equipment.

Finnish Suunto, that started in the 1930s as a supplier of high quality liquid compasses for the army.

Not to mention Apple, that with the Apple Watch Series 4 has managed to join the niche of outdoor watches, not least thanks to the fact that Apple Watch is now rated Water Resistant 5 bar / 50 m, a vital improvement over most outdoor activities.

There’s lots of good words to be expressed about several of the models manufactured by the companies mentioned above, but it’s the Casio Pro Trek Series we are going to delve into this time.

Why Pro Trek?

So why choose a Casio Pro Trek watch?

Well, first of all, Casio has a long story with a huge production of quality products and a great reputation behind them.

Since 1946 Casio has been known for reliability, durability, their fine talent for packing their products with useful features, and an attractive, user-friendly design all along.

Traditionally, Casio has also catered to customers with reasonable pricing.

Whether it’s wristwatches, calculators, cameras, musical instruments, even phones and computers, they have, if any, understood to read the market and the needs of their customers all along.

The Pro Trek Series is no exception.

Casio ATC-1100

In the beginning of the 90s, Casio realized that there was a demand for a sturdy outdoor wristwatch equipped with certain features and capable of serving flawlessly in the field, and they started the development of their first Triple Sensor model, ATC-1100.

Although a bit bulky and outdated compared to today’s standards, this very first Pro Trek model was in fact equipped with Altimeter, Barometer, Chronograph, Compass and Thermometer, along with all the usual Casio watch features.

Since then the one feature packed Pro Trek model after the other has been developed to accomodate the special demands connected with serious outdoor activities.

7 Great Wristwatches!

A major drawback of the earliest Pro Trek model ATC-1100 was the fact that the watch was classified with a Water Resistance rating of only 3 bar / 30 m.

In practice, this meant that the watch was quite vulnerable if used under conditions involving heavy influence of water.

The watch would withstand rain and light splashes, but that was it.

Nowadays Casio only produces top notch outdoor watches and this includes a watch case designed to resist ingress of water even under the most challenging circumstances.

The Pro Trek models shown on this page are carefully selected and the very best you can get right now.

With the exception of the WSD-F30 Series, they are all Solar Powered, Radio Controlled and classified Water Resistance 100 m or better.

  1. Great article on Casio watches.  I have owned a few in the past myself.  I’m currently looking to get a Samsung SmartWatch.  My kids are all iPhone users and love their Apple Watches.  I use the Samsung phone line and have for over 10 years.  So, I’m more focused on a Galaxy SmartWatch.  Do you have any articles reviewing them?

    • Hi Brian, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

The articles you request are coming. I can’t tell you exactly when, but they are coming.

  2. These are all great looking watches. I look for multi function capability, durability, and then style. I believe the list features watches that check off the last two things I would be looking for durability an style. I wonder about their functionality. In the era of Smart watches and Fitbits, a watch that serves many different functions have been the preferred option me. I see a number of the watches come with Smart Access, I would want to know more about that aspect before making a purchase.
