Analog, classic, stylish and laid back are some of the key words that come to mind when casting a casual glance at the Casio Lineage collection.
The series represents the elegant men’s watch that fits any dress code and at the same time offers a number of key features such as Radio Signal Reception, Solar Power and Water Resistance.
Later in this article I will describe all the specifications for the Lineage series and I will show you my 8 personal favorites.
Casio Lineage
The Casio Lineage series is first and foremost characterized by focusing on the understated, classic, analog look and this is perhaps one of the reasons why this beautiful collection is a bit overlooked compared to Casio’s other popular quartz watch series.
The design of a wristwatch is always a matter of temperament and personal taste.
While some prefer a more rugged, tough look, such as the G-Shock series, others may prefer the more laid-back style, but without compromising on features.
And that’s exactly what the Lineage series has to offer.
What Are the Key Features of the Lineage Series?
We will go over all the specifications in detail in a moment, but let’s just quickly summarize the most important ones:
- Analog Dial With LCD Display
- Solar Power
- Multi Band 6 Radio Signal Reception
- Battery Level Indicator
- Water Resistant (50 m)
Specifications in Detail
In spite of the moderate appearance of the Lineage watches, they actually have several useful features.
Below you can see the specifications that apply to all 8 selected Lineage models.
The specifications that separate the 8 models are listed under each watch including materials, dimensions and weight.
A built-in light-emitting diode (LED) is used to illuminate the watch face.
All Lineage models feature a solar cell providing the energy required to drive the watch, meaning you never have to worry about battery replacement.
This watch is always accurate to the second.
Once the watch has been set to local time, it’s ready to receive the relevant radio signal to adjust your watch to the correct time.
This happens up to 6 times during the night without you even noticing it.

The markers and the hands has been treated with a special luminous coating that provides long-term illumination in the dark even after a short exposure to light.
Displays the current time in major cities and specific areas around the world.
Measure Elapsed Time, Split Time and Final Time with 1/100 second accuracy.
You can measure times of up to 1 hour.
The Countdown Timer can be set to a maximum of 100 minutes and a signal will sound after a preset period of time has elapsed.
Set up to five independent daily alarms to remind you of important recurring events.
An acoustic signal sounds when you switch from one function to another if you turn the Button Tone feature on.
The name of the day can be displayed in different languages.
Once set the automatic calendar always displays the correct date.
Times can be displayed in either 12-hour or 24-hour format.
A special artificially manufactured scratch resistant glass covers the watch dial.
This watch has a particularly secure safety catch preventing the strap from opening by mistake.
The Lineage watches are solar powered and that makes the Battery Level Indicator particularly useful.
If the battery level should go down to a critical level, simply expose your watch to sunlight or place it under a lamp.
The WR classification of the Lineage series is 50 m (5 bar).
It can be worn when showering and bathing (not recommended) and that’s fine for a wristwatch of this type.

Conclusion
I must say that no photo I have seen of the Casio Lineage series gives full justice to the beauty of these watches.
They really look great and should appeal to all gentlemen who wants a goodlooking, super-accurate watch with a classic, analog look and feel.
The Lineage models are water resistant to 50 m (5 bar) and that’s sufficient to withstand ingress of water from bathing and showering.
It would have been the icing on the cake with a rating of 100 m or more, but on the other hand the Lineage models are not meant to compete with outdoor watches, they are after all watches designed with dress code in mind, so in reality there is no need for more.
The price range is appealing as well, only approx. $150-$250, but it may be worth inserting here that you can in fact get a solar powered Casio Wave Ceptor watch for less than $100, so if you consider buying a Casio Lineage watch with a limited budget at hand, you might want to check out the Wave Ceptor series first.

Can we change the bracelets for leather straps in any of these watches? This a serious question, I’m looking for one of these but not sure if I can replace it, which would be a bummer
I have seen several Lineage models with leather strap, so yes, it can be done.
I replaced mine with a silicon rubber strap which gives it a more sporty look..
